DESCRIPTION:The Borough will be honoring one of Spring Lake Heights residents\, John Tarantino on Tuesday\, August 27\, 2024\, at 2:00 pm. John was a highly decorated World War II Veteran. \nJohn was a resident of the Fairway Mews community and left this earth in November 2022.   His many friends proposed that the area of Highway 71 bordering Fairway Mews be re-named the “John Tarantino Highway.” \nWith the help of Assemblyman Sean Kean legislation was passed and signed into law by Governor Murphy on Tuesday\, January 16\, 2024. \nIt is with great pride we honor him by naming a portion of State Highway 71 (from Freedom Park (corner of Allaire Road and Highway 71) to Passaic Ave the “John Tarantino Highway”. \nPlease join us on August 27\, 2024\, at 2:00 pm at the corner of Passaic Ave and Highway 71. \n

ROBERTSON PARK ON ALLAIRE ROAD \nSpring Lake Heights Recreation will host the annual display of classic British automobiles by the Positive Earth Drivers Club on Sunday\, June 16\, 2024 from 10am to 1pm at Joseph E. Robertson Park on Allaire Road. The rain date is Sunday\, June 23\, 2024. \nMayor Chris Campion will be on hand. “We welcome back the Positive Earth Driver’s Club to Spring Lake Heights and hope all our residents and visitors will come out on Father’s Day to enjoy these rare\, beautiful automobiles” said Mayor Campion. Among the classics will be vintage Jaguar\, Triumph\, Austin Healey\, Morgan\, Lotus\, Aston Martin and MG roadsters and sedans. Many are\npristine\, others are “drivers” used daily by the owners who enjoy using their classics. This event opens the driving season and each year brings out Dads and their kids to see this interesting array of cars. “Our club always looks forward to this fun event to welcome all British car enthusiasts to come out and learn about our Club” said Mark Wintjen\, President of PEDC. \nThis event is no charge to the public. PEDC has its annual judged car show to Ocean Grove held on Saturday\, September 21\, 2024. British car owners can find out more information about this upcoming event during the Fathers Day Display or visit the website www.pedc.org. Positive Earth Driver’s Club was founded in 1989 and their mission is to preserve\, maintain\, restore\, drive and otherwise enjoy vintage British automobiles.
